Each year I provide a complete success report of every hunter who hunted with me so that you can call the unsuccessful ones as well as the ones who got a big one.  Names are listed in order of arrival at camp.  When you call them, please be brief to respect their privacy..
Archery Deer: David Seifert, So. Lake Tahoe, Ca (530)544-4832   Saw lots of good bucks during his hunt, including a couple of great ones.  Couldn't get close enough for a shot.  Came back later during rifle season.
Archery Elk: Larry and Barry Blanton, Kokomo, In ((765)457-9658  They had a tough bowhunt.  Weather didn't cooperate and the bulls just weren't bugling.  Only got into a couple of bugling bulls during the week.
Rifle Deer Hunts:
A.J. Goddard, Boulder, Co (303)655-8405 and Jim Trevithick, Longmont, Co (303)651-6617   Saw about 20 bucks.  Saw one whopper with a big drop tine but weren't able to get him.
Dan McCarty, Echo, Or (541)376-8157 and Darrell Primmer, Hermiston, Or (541)567-7042.   Dan killed a 27" buck and Darrell killed a nice 5x5 on the first day of their hunt.
Brad Ingram, Redwood Valley, Ca (707)485-7880  killed a big 29 inch timberline muley in a really tough spot.  Heavy beams.  Great buck!
Brian Ingram, Redwood Valley, Ca (707)485-7403 killed an absolutely beautiful 27 1/2 inch 6x5.  Brian spotted one antler fork from a mile away by glassing with his spotting scope. Jonesy and Brian put a two hour stalk on it while guide Grant and Brad kept an eye on it.  Brian nailed it to its bed with one spine shot, or the buck would still be rolling.  Fantastic spotting job, tremendous stalk, perfect shot.  Incredible trophy!!
Nelson Ferreira, San Francisco, Ca (415)885-2847  Killed a nice 25 inch buck which was pushed to him on a drive.
Paul Mondello, San Leandro, Ca (510)895-2802  Killed a beautiful 26 inch buck.
Justin Giangrasso, Fairfield, Ca (707)421-1192 Killed one of the biggest bucks we have ever killed.  34 inches wide, massive beams, full velvet.  B&C gross Score 215 1/8 typical (which is net SCI) puts him #4 in the Safari Club International Record Book.  We had spotted the buck before the season and put 4 hunters in there opening day.  Justin was the lucky one!!  He made a good shot on him.
Tim Clement, Fairfield, Ca (707)426-2489  Saw 17 bucks.  Passed up several, including one with a 27" medium-heavy rack.
Richard Giangrasso, Fairfield, Ca (707)428-1660  Killed a big 31 inch buck with deep forks.  Great scoring buck.  .Saw 11 bucks in two days.  Hit one buck that got away and we killed him 20 days later. (see Ron Geeslin)
Blaine Matthews, Mesa, Az (480)396-9386  Saw 11 bucks.  Passed up a 26" and a 27".  Saw a huge 29-30 inch super-high buck go over a ridge.  No chance for a shot.
Darin Kerr, Driggs, Id (208)354-8683 Passed up a 26", 27", and 22".  Saw 7 bucks total in 4 days hunting.
Greer Jones, Driggs, Id (208)354-8592  Killed a tremendous 26 inch buck, heavy and high, in lousy weather of fog and snow.  Passed up bucks of 32", 27", 26".  The 32 incher he passed had very small forks on the back tines and thin horns.  Greer's 26 incher was a much better buck.
Grant Deary, Sacramento, Ca (916)483-3536 Lousy weather hampered his hunt.  After a heavy snow we went up the mountain and spotted a heavy 30 inch buck.  Made a good stalk and Grant had a shot at 180 yards broadside but his gun wouldn't fire because of moisture in the action.  Very very disappointing.
Jeff Omand, W. Sacramento, Ca (916)428-3511 Killed a heavy high-horned buck with a great shot at 300 yards.  Jeff and Jonesy walked three minutes from the horses, Jonesy spotted the buck and said "shoot him!", and Jeff did.   The buck just fell over.  Good neck shot.
Mark Kaufenberg, Elk Grove, Ca (916)686-6981  Only saw a few bucks. "Just did not seem to be in the right place at the right time.  Had a great time.  Will be back next year to get my big buck."
Larry Potter, Newcastle, Ca (916)434-0321  Saw two 30+ bucks.  Passed on a 32" with crawdad forks.  Wounded and lost a 27 inch buck that he tracked for 3 miles. "Saw many bucks and had a great time."
Ray Miller, Loomis, Ca (916)652-0955  Killed a tremendous non-typical 8x9 buck 30 5/8 inches wide, heavy beams, at 370 yards (on the third shot).  Talk about beginner's luck.  This was Ray's first mule deer.  Also saw a 32" buck.
Mike Vieira, Dixon, Ca (707)678-1369  Saw 15 bucks but none of them good enough.  Mike hunted hard but just no luck on the big boy as yet.
Tony Wachter, Gold Canyon, Az (480)982-1074  Passed a nice 26" buck. "Had a great hunt, saw lots of game, could have shot two bucks."
Gary Goodfried, Flint, Tx (903)894-6440 Saw about 16 bucks, only one good one.  Didn't get him.
Dennis Wehling, Larkspur, Co (719)488-6537  Saw 10 bucks including a pretty good 25 incher, but not quite good enough.
Dan Johnston, Petaluma, Ca (707)765-0193  Killed a nice 5x5 in a gorgeous alpine basin.  Had a heartbreaking miss on a huge "magazine-cover" buck at 412 yards.  This buck was one of the biggest and prettiest I, Jonesy, have ever seen.  Tremendous buck and heartbreaking miss.
John Hills, Tyler, Tx (903)581-7008 Saw a number of bucks but didn't find the one he was looking for.
Ken Brown, Pioneer, Ca (209)295-8605  Saw 14 bucks.  Ken killed a nice 25 inch 5x5.  We were sitting on a stand for 20 minutes, I moved a little to get a better view to the other side of the tree and there was a buck bedded within 100 yards of us.  Sheesh!!  Some guide I, Jonesy, am!
Kevin McDonnell, Galt, Ca (209)745-2744  Killed an average buck.  Direct from Kevin's notes on the hunt:  "Bucks running everywhere in the high country!... As we rode we got a Kodak moment with 4 bucks standing shoulder to shoulder on a ridge 200 yards above us.  Brian (guide) said "Shoot it!"  I jumped out of the saddle and swung left to the 4x4 on the end.  As I squeezed the trigger, Not-My-Day-Today-Buck turned his head and yelled "They've got guns!" and took a round through the side of his neck....  The 4x4 bolted with his other two buddies, shaking his head at his good fortune."
Richard Butler, San Antonio, Tx (210)493-1571  Shot at two different bucks and missed, however they were tough shots (running, off-hand, etc).
Jerry Fulton, San Antonio, Tx (210)828-4580  Missed a 28 inch buck.  Saw some others.
Ron Geeslin, Chico, Tx (940)644-5139  Killed  a heavy-horned 26 inch 6x5 bedded within 200 yards of where we had our horses tied for an hour.
David Seifert, S. Lake Tahoe, Ca  (530)541-4557  Missed three shots at a nice buck.  David had left his rifle on his horse and was a bit winded after retrieving it.

Bruce Faulkner, San Martin, Ca (408)683-4324  Killed a 25 inch 5x5 with a good 175 yard downhill shot.

Dean Jenkins, San Jose, Ca (408)686-0614  Didn't find the buck he was after.  Terrible weather the last three days of his hunt.
Greg Simonsen, W. Jordan, Ut (801)280-2817  Saw several bucks but didn't find the big one.  Really lousy weather with rain, snow, fog.
Darin & Geralie Felice, Gilroy, Ca (408)847-0169  Darin killed a really nice 26 inch 6x5 buck the first morning of his hunt.  Made a great uphill 394 yard shot.  His wife was along for the hunt and enjoyed the kill with him and the hard packing job to get the buck down.
Rick Collins, Scottsdale, Az (480)391-3659  Rick has been trying for 7 years to hunt with me in Wyoming.  He's hunted with me in Arizona for Coues Deer and in Colorado for elk.  Every time he hunts with me he brings the lousiest weather with him.  Severe rain, snow, and fog hampered his hunt.  Saw  a few bucks.  Shot at and missed a nice 26 inch buck on the last day, almost the last hour.  It was a long shot of 470 yards.
Mark Allen, Mesa, Az (480)892-8361  Saw a few bucks but didn't find the one she wanted.  Lousy weather.
Jerry Hendershot, Warfordsburg, Pa (301)678-6869  Killed a nice 5x5 25" on the last day of his hunt.

Elk Hunt:  We generally see hunting pressure the first three days from the locals, then we have the mountains to ourselves.  We killed some good bulls, had some good days and some tough days.  Also had some really lousy weather which caused a lot of problems with slick trails.
Larry Johnson, Astoria, Or (503)325-2397  Killed a 7x7 bull at 375 yards in the snow.  Fantastic pictures of this bull, with the snow-capped peaks in the distance, the fog in the valley, and the beautiful mountainside.  Larry said this hunt was a tremendous experience.
Paul Bayne, Thayne, Wy (307)883-4574  Paul only hunted part of two days.  Physical problems.
Jesse Warren, Thayne, Wy (307)883-7850  Killed a 6 point bull with a great 210 yard shot. Before killing it he passed up a spike, a 2 point, a 3 point, a 4 point, a 5 point and killed the 6 pointer.  His dad killed a 7 pointer in the next draw.  I, Jonesy, have never seen that before.
Farley Warren, Thayne, Wy (307)883-7850  Killed a 7x6 bull at 200 yards.  Heavy dark horns with ivory tips.  Tremendous bull.
Ed Davis, Willmer, Mn (320)235-4947  Didn't find the bull he was looking for.
Gordie Dukershein, Glen Flora, Wi (715)322-4481  Killed a 4x3 bull just at sundown.  Made a great 200 yard uphill shot.
Corky Johnson, Nisswa, Mn (218)963-2980  Corky hunted hard but didn't find the bull he was looking for.
Joe Stuart, New York, NY (212)744-0797  Joe has hunted with me in the past and is a fine example of a liberal Democrat from Manhattan who is otherwise a normal and decent human being.  We worked hard at finding him an elk, in spite of his politics.  He saw a good bull but no shot.
Adam Stuart, Missoula, Mt (406)721-8394  Missed a big bull at 60 yards just at daylight.  The poor light made it so Adam couldn't see his crosshairs clearly.  He cut lots of hair and drew just a few specks of blood.
Gary Hayden, Eau Claire, Wi (715)839-8758 Killed a small bull with a 375 yard shot.  Dropped him in his tracks.
Todd Clyatt, Livermore, Ca (925)294-8956  Passed up a spike bull because all he had was a "Texas heart shot".
Roger Frank, Yantis, Tx (903)473-1451  Killed a 6x5 bull on day 7 of his hunt. Missed a really big 6x6.
John Jackson, Mineola, Tx (903)569-1618 Missed a 6 point bull on the last day of his hunt.  Saw 65 elk in that herd, including several good bulls.
Bob Neunzig, Dallas, NC (704)922-9069 Killed a 4 point bull with a great shot and great follow-up shot.

Chris Stetz, Livermore, Ca (559)994-9037  Killed a spike bull with a perfect 192 yard shot after a mad dash down a super-steep mountain to intercept it.  The bull only went 50 yards.
Gary Franklin, Clay City, Il (618)676-1689  Saw a lot of elk including one whopper of a bull.  Killed a spike with a 360 yard  off-hand shot.  "Out of 8 guided elk hunts this was without a doubt the best ever!  You and your entire staff get a perfect 10 from Chad and I."
Chad Franklin, Normal, Il (309)454-7195  Chad saw a huge bull and a lot of other elk. Killed a 5 point bull on day 5 of his hunt.
