There is nothing like the warm glow of a lantern coming from a tent early in the morning. You walk into our warm and comfortable cook tent with the smell of fresh coffee and breakfast. Outside is the sound of horses being saddled and made ready for the best adventure in big mule deer hunting you will ever have. You will leave the trail head in the dark, climbing 1,000 to 2,000 feet in elevation, hunting the biggest mule deer in Wyoming. Jackson Hole Outfitters with its experienced staff has successfully been guiding hunters here for a long time, and we aren’t ready to give it up now.

When you hunt with Jackson Hole Outfitters you will be with safe and experienced guides who have helped many hunters take home true trophy mule deer. Of course being located on the Greys River in Lincoln County, Wyoming doesn’t hurt. With 53 all time record book mule deer, 23 of them within the last ten years, Lincoln County is the best trophy mule deer area in Wyoming.

Jackson Hole Outfitters does its part by spending the summer riding horses and using aircraft to scout for these trophy mule deer. We have also made sure our string of horses is top notch and in shape for this very physical hunt. Here are some things you can do that will help you be ready for a trophy mule deer hunt on the Greys River.

This is a low-odds mule deer license to draw, so if you have not started buying Wyoming Deer Preference Points do so now. This way when you are ready to go you will be able to get a license; we will be happy to assist you with this process.
Start an exercise program. With the high elevation and steep terrain, doing any kind of a program will benefit you and increase your odds of getting that trophy mule deer.
Practice shooting at ranges of 300 to 400 yards in different positions. We have some big rocks and logs, but no shooting benches on top of the mountains, and often the terrain prevents us from getting any closer than 400 yards from these big guys. That’s why they become trophy mule deer.
While you can’t truly simulate the terrain you will be riding in, find a stable and spend some time getting comfortable around horses. Practice getting on and off with your pack and hunting gear on. This is usually the most difficult part of riding.

Single mule deer hunters are required to book a one-to-one hunt: additional cost is $1000. Hunt days can be extended if there is room at $700 per day. A conservation stamp is required for all hunts in Wyoming: cost $12.50
