Each year we provide a complete success report of every hunter
who hunted with us so that you can call the
unsuccessful ones as well as the ones who got a big one. Names
are listed in order of arrival at camp. When you
call them, please be brief to respect their privacy.
Archery Deer: You will see big bucks on this hunt and have the
chance of stalking them. Timberline bucks can
be tough.
Matt Bahti, College Station, Tx (409)693-5271 Saw 23 bucks in
his five days of hunting,, one over 30 inches.
Had two 28 inch trophy bucks within 10 yards but spooked them
as he drew. Had 3 trophy bucks within 40 yards
but didn't have his release.
Archery Elk: A lot of elk, a lot of bugling. Just need some
luck to get close.
Jim Windham, Lakeworth, Fl (561)748-2708 Saw 32 bulls on his
hunt including several big six-pointers. Shot at
a spike. Passed up 50 yard shot at three bulls.
Rifle Deer Hunts: 1998 success included 3 bucks larger than
30 inches, two 29 inches, three 28 inches, some
great trophy bucks that were 27, plus some non-typical bucks
including one with double drop tines. In short, we
are currently killing some GREAT bucks. Come join us. We have
tremendous mule deer in our area. We hunt
them hard and kill some good ones. It is rough country, steep
and rugged. Not for those with bad knees or weak
hearts, very demanding physically. Horseback, but you still
need to be in good shape. Hunting this year was a
little tough with warm dry weather. Most of our bucks were killed
on drives, as they were holed up in the cool
timber. Our heartbreaker of the season was when we made a drive,
guide Tom pushed out a whopper 40 inch
buck, cheaters and garbage all over it, big drop tine, and the
buck went right exactly between two of our
hunters. If either of them had turned his head and looked to
the side he would have seen it, but monster muleys
bear a charmed life. Tom yelled, "Kill that buck!" One hunter
stood up and looked, but at that time the buck
must have been behind a bush as he never saw it.
Ron Anderson, Hermiston, Or and Dan McCarty, Echo, Or (541-376-8157)
Dan killed a tremendous non-typical
mule deer buck with double drop tines. One of the best bucks
we have ever killed. They didn't see a lot of deer,
but this one was a keeper.
Jim Mellody and Steve Clonts, Eagar, Az (520)333-4800 Steve
killed a 25 inch buck, the best one they saw in
five days.
Jim Windham, Lakeworth, Fl (561)748-2708 Jim killed a dandy
26 inch buck on a drive on the second day. 200
yard shot.
David Sufka, St Cloud, Mn (320)253-5075 Hunted hard but didn't
see any real good ones.
Bill Pederson, E. Grand Forks, Mn (218)773-6272 Saw a number
of deer, hunted hard. Didn't find the buck he
wanted.
Jim Glahn, Ann Arbor, Mi (734)426-8935 Only hunted three days.
Saw small bucks.
Bill Clark, Carleton, Mi (734)654-3976 Only hunted two days.

mountains.

on opening day.
Bruce Jackson, Tacoma, Wa (253)798-3611 Saw a monster buck.
Couldn't get to it before dark.
Brian Ingram, Redwood Valley, Ca (707)485-7403 Missed a buck
that would have gone 28 to 30 inches, running
shot. Killed a great non-typical 7x7 buck in full velvet, 31
inch spread, absolutely beautiful buck. Long 450 yard
shot.
Justin Ingram, Redwood Valley, Ca (707)485-7880 Justin killed
a Boone & Crockett buck, he just killed him
three years too soon. A beautiful 5x5 typical buck, 20 inches,
good forks, nice brow tines. He saw several other
bucks including a couple of wall hangers.
Brad Ingram, Redwood Valley, Ca (707)485-7403 Brad and Brett
spotted a big buck 450 yards away. While
Brett covered it, Brad went running down the hill to get a closer
shot. Brad bumped into a whopper buck, which
took off running, so Brad quickly sat down and shot the buck
in the neck. The buck he killed was 32 and a half
inches, massive typical.
Brett Ingram, Ukiah, Ca (707)485-7783 When Brett heard Brad
shoot his 32 incher, he thought he had shot at
the big buck that was bedded, that Brett was covering. Since
the buck wasn't hit, Brett shot at it, 460 yards, and
killed it. A truly tremendous typical buck, massive beams, high
rack, spread of 26 inches. Spread isn't
everything, as this buck was really a monster.
Gene Kronberger, Creswell, Or (541)895-2563 Gene killed a 23
inch buck on a long shot the last day of his
hunt.
Greg Pittman, Creswell, Or (541)895-3784 Greg killed a beautiful
28 inch buck in full velvet. Great stalk from
long range. They spotted it from 1500 yards. The last 200 yards
was in their stocking feet, to be quieter. Took
him with a 360 yard shot.
Jay Furrer, Cottage Grove, Or (541)942-7382 Jay shot a big 29
inch buck. 80 yard shot. Warren pushed it to
Jay, almost had to throw rocks at it to get it to go by Jay's
stand. Warren said "You're dead" to the buck, then
Ka-Wham!! Jay flattened him.
Randy Ware, Cottage Grove, Or (541)942-3868 Randy was consistently
in the right place at the wrong time, or
is it the wrong place at the right time? He hunted hard, didn't
get a shot, but saw some bucks.
Todd Kronberger, Cottage Grove, Or (541)942-8552 Todd killed
a heavy horned 28 and a half inch buck. A nice
shot.

buck twice. Saw some other good bucks.
Passed up a buck with a broken horn. Good buck but missing some
antler.
Don Bloch, Roseburg, Or (541)440-4849 The third time Don has
hunted with me. Warren made a drive and
pushed a huge buck right to Don. Don killed it at 20 yards.
A massive 31 inch buck, heavy and high. A
tremendous trophy mulie.
Bill Tingey, Kaysville, Ut (801)451-5503 Bill shot at a 27 inch
buck, high rack with deep forks, heavy beams.
The guides and he thought he hit it, but he searched for it
for hours with no success. On a drive in the vicinity
one of the other hunters passed up a buck that had one main
beam broken off. Could it have been this buck?
Steve Boero, San Carlos, Ca (650)593-7733 Steve was back again
this year to get a "Boero Buck", you know,
35 inches with cheater points all over it? The last day of his
hunt he covered miles of rough timberline rimrocks
and dangerous cliffs in prime trophy muley country, on foot,
only to kill a nice 25 inch non-typical buck within
1,000 yards of the horses. Steve was disappointed in the buck.
The very dim light at dusk made the buck look
much bigger than it really was.
Stan Rogers, Salem, Or (503)362-9470 On the second day Stan
killed a big typical muley, 29 and a half inches
wide. Great buck! They were riding down the trail, just before
dark, only 20 minutes from camp, bailed off and
shot it at 150 yards.

nice 25 inch buck. Shot at 60 yards, on a drive.

killed a heavy buck with us last year, but
unfortunately no luck this year.

shot at a big 28 inch buck.
John Grow, Eagle Point, Or (541)826-4507 His second year with
us. We enjoy John's company. One of the
nicest guys you will ever meet. We were making a drive and he
let another hunter, Corky Johnson, have the
prime spot to shoot the big buck.

ourselves. We killed some good bulls, had some good days and
some tough days. Saw one elk herd with more
than 100 elk in it, 20 bulls.

Took a nasty spill off a horse and got bruised
up.

the monster bull. He saw some big six-pointers,
the first he has seen on four guided hunts, but the big ones
were just too far. Missed a long shot.
Jim Windham, Lakeworth, Fl (561)798-2708 Jim passed up several
bulls including a big 5X5. He killed a 7X5
bull on the back side of a whopper mountain. He hit it at 380
yards several times, but he ran out of shells. It
finally died. It took us 7 hours to cut our way to it with a
chain saw. He saw a monster 6 point bull right at dawn
on opening morning but didn't get a shot at it.

including about 30 bulls and his "dream bull".

massive beams, ivory tips, long tines. While

50 yards of the bedded bull but didn't get a shot.

at a bull in three hunts.
